Tai Chi Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise and self-defense design to improve physical health, decrease stress and bring unity to mind, body and spirit. It has been practiced in China for about 3,000 years. Tai Chi uses martial arts movements performed very slowly in order to improve balance, coordination and strength. It is often called "moving meditation." Tai Chi is a beautiful flowing set of exercises that improve flexibility, coordination, balance and cardiovascular fitness, also offering the practitioner a repetoire of movements useful in self defense. Tai Chi is an ideal form of exercise, as it is gentle, fun and easy to do for people of all ages, yet can be very challenging to people of all levels of ability.
