Master Cheng Tsang Lu was born in the city of Changhua, Taiwan. He began his martial arts training at the age of 13 with Grand Master Chian Ho Yin. Grand Master Chian Ho Yin migrated to Taiwan in 1949.  Grand Master Yin was a Master in Northern Shaolin Style Kung Fu and the Chinese healing arts including Acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Grand Master Yin taught, “If you are able to hurt someone, you should be more adept and able to heal them. So, Master Lu studied both the internal and external forms of Martial Arts including Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Ba Gua, and Hsing Yi for fourteen years as well as acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Master Lu was two times Kung Fu National Champion full contact in 1969 and 1971. Before coming to the United States, he had made several movies.

1949-2022

Master Lu migrated to the United States in September of 1974 he came with his master Chian Ho Yin. He began teaching in Salt Lake City, Utah at that time, primarily in the park or at the YMCA.

In 1983 Master Lu became the first licensed Acupuncturist in Utah when it became legal.

Master Lu has been privileged to teach Tai Chi at the University of Utah and in other areas in the community. He had the courage and determination to immigrate to a new country and attempt to learn a new language and integrate the customs of his country as well as establish an Ethnical and Traditional based Martial arts school and a healing center.

Master Lu’s Health Center continues to carry on his legacy of teaching people Chinese Martial Arts and treating people in our clinic. We believe in treating everyone with professional skills and in a caring manner.

Our Licensed Acupuncturists

Tyehao Lu, L.Ac, MAOM

Master Tyehao Lu is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Utah. He practices Chinese medicine and acupuncture at Master Lu’s Health Center. He has a Master’s degree from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine one of the best Chinese medicine colleges in the United States. He is also an NCCAOM Oriental Medicine Diplomate. He practices acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, tui na (Chinese massage), Chinese food therapy, and Chinese martial arts. Tyehao has been practicing Chinese Martial arts both Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and Old Yang Style Tai Chi for over 25 years.

Andy Alzamora

Andy was raised in Jersey City, NJ, Andy has an associate’s degree in Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant from Union County College in Cranford, NJ. he then received a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Medical Humanities from Montclair University in Bloomfield, NJ. Andy then started pursuing a Master’s degree in the Science of Acupuncture at The Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine in Bloomfield, NJ.

Andy is also a student of the Chinese Martial Art of Giang Shan Ba Gua Zhang under Shifu Ding Ming (8th Generation lineage disciple and owner of Longevity Healing Arts).

Instructors

Before an instructor can teach tai chi and kung fu at the Lu Health Center, they undertake years of rigorous training and must be certified by Master Lu to instruct students. All students at Master Lu’s Health Center receive personal instruction, both from instructors and Master Lu himself. Kung Fu and Tai Chi are about personal transformation and well-being, and individual attention helps to ensure that each pupil receives training appropriate to their interests and abilities.

Master Tyehao Lu

Tyehao Lu began studying Kung Fu at the young age of 3 years old. He has trained most of his life and has achieved a level of Kung Fu mastery that can only be attained through a lifetime of rigorous and dedicated study. Tyehao Lu has competed in a variety of tournaments, including the Utah Summer Games where he won several gold and silver medals and other international Kung Fu tournaments winning gold medals. Tyehao has been teaching Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu for over 10 years and in 2004 was awarded the title of Master. Tyehao is also a Licensed Acupuncturist with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He currently practices acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and tui na (Chinese massage) at Master Lu’s Health Center. He specializes in pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and internal medicine.

Master Charles Lazer

Master Charles began his Martial Arts training at the University of Utah, studying Tai Chi with Bill Parkinson, then started training under Master Lu in 2003. Master Charles received his Master’s certificate from Master Cheng Lu in 2014. Master Charles learned Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and other forms under Master Lu. Currently, Master Charles is continuing his Martial Arts training under Master Shi Yan Xin of Kungfu.Life, where he is furthering his studies in Shaolin Kung Fu and Qi Gong. Master Charles also teaches at various locations in Utah.

Master Matthew Stratton

Matthew Stratton was born September 7th, 1972 in Lima, Ohio. He has been very active in sports from 1977 until 1991 and competed in football, baseball, soccer, wrestling, and gymnastics. Starting in 1990 until he departed from the military, Matthew coached gymnastics to students of all ages. He graduated High School in 1991, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on November 11th, 1991, and spent 11 years serving his country. Master Matt received his Master’s Certificate after years of studying under Master Cheng Lu.

Master Gary Whitehead

Gary has been studying Kung Fu under the direction of Master Cheng Tsang Lu for over 10 years. He competed in the 2002 Utah Summer Games and has instructed a wide range of martial artists in his work at Master Lu’s Health Center for over five years. Gary often runs warm-up exercises and helps new students learn the basic stances required for Kung Fu. Gary is also certified to teach our Tai Chi form. In his professional life, Gary is a software engineer who uses Kung Fu and Tai Chi to maintain his remarkable health. Gary is among the older students at the Lu Health Center and his health, well-being, and skills reflect his long dedication to his training.

Currently, Master Gary Whitehead teaches Utah Tech in St. George, Utah on Monday and Wednesday nights and at the Hurricane Community Center. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Master Lu has been practicing Acupuncture and Chinese martial arts for over 40 years. He was one of the first Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Utah. He was trained in Taiwan in both Acupuncture and Chinese martial arts mainly Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and Old Yang Style Tai Chi. Master Lu was also twice national champion for full contact fighting in Taiwan.
